Membership at Our Savior’s is not just about being a part of a group – it’s about living as disciples of Jesus and gathering in a community of the faithful to be fed and nourished by God’s gifts of grace.
Our Savior’s welcomes people from all backgrounds, who come with a variety of gifts and talents, but who also experience many kinds of brokenness. We are all in need of God’s embrace through the crucified and risen Jesus – and we welcome you to join us!
One does not need to be a member to participate in activities and ministries at Our Savior’s. Just come and be a part of what God is doing here in our community and the world beyond.
For many, however, membership is important – a sense of belonging to something bigger than ourselves. So, just how do you become a member here?
- Baptism: Whether a child or an adult, being baptized here makes you a member of the congregation.
- Confirmation: Young people in our confirmation program who are not already members of this congregation through their baptism here or a previous transfer become members as they affirm their faith.
- Transfer: Persons from other Lutheran congregations can transfer their membership to Our Savior’s.
- New member class: Kind of a “confirmation” for adults – complete with the opportunity to affirm your baptism and join Our Savior’s. This class is offered periodically during the year.
The most important thing is this: no matter your background, or how many skeletons are in your closet, we want you to be a part of this community of faith. Come, worship, and walk the journey of faith with us.
And if you are also interested in membership contact Pastor Jon at pastorjon@oursaviorswestsalem.org, Pastor Jean at pastorjean@oursaviorswestsalem.org, or just contact us!
